Payment policies

To help provide a safe experience, we only allow payment methods that offer strong protection for buyers and sellers.

  • Payment method policy

    The following payment methods are not allowed, including:

    • Sending cash through the mail
    • Point-to-point cash transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram

    Direct contact information can only be exchanged after Boleum Marketplace checkout is complete. This includes asking buyers to get in touch with details of alternative payment methods.

    The following payment methods, which are offered at Boleum Marketplace checkout, are allowed:

    • Verve Card
    • Credit card or debit card
    • Bank payment( Nigeria Only)
  • Unpaid item policy

    When a member is approved to purchase an item, they must complete the purchase by sending full payment to Boleum Marketplace. Buyers must note:

    • The cost of shipping and handling, and all terms that the seller has included in the listing before deciding to purchase
    • RFQ’s can only be retracted under exceptional circumstances

    A seller may report an unpaid item if the buyer doesn’t pay or contact them within 2 days.

    Managing unpaid items cases

    • Sellers may close the case when a buyer has not paid within 4 days
    • Buyers have the option of appealing an unpaid item if they believe it was undeserved
    • Sellers should avoid falsely reporting unpaid items or they may:
      • Have all credits reversed for the time period in question
      • Be subject to suspension
    • Unpaid items are considered a violation of our buying policies. All unpaid items are recorded on a buyer’s account. Buyers who have excessive unpaid items, or cancelled transactions, may have limits imposed, or lose their buying privileges.
    • Boleum Marketplace will automatically remove feedback from a buyer who didn’t pay. However, if we missed something, sellers can contact us(see unpaid item policy). Feedback may be removed when:
      • The buyer didn’t pay or respond to the unpaid item process
      • The buyer is suspended
      • The buyer’s communication in the Customer Care Center undermines the purpose of the unpaid item process and feedback system
  • Offering to sell and buy outside Boleum Marketplace policy

    • Contacting another Boleum Marketplace member to discuss moving a purchase off Boleum Marketplace exposes both the buyer and seller to the risk of fraud. It also means both buyer and seller are not covered by our protection programs.

      Buyers and sellers can’t:

      • Engage in any action with a user on the site designed to complete or facilitate a transaction outside of Boleum Marketplace
      • Share or request direct contact information prior to completing a sale
        • Exception: Sellers may opt to provide their phone number as part of the Ask a Question or any other Boleum Marketplace endorsed functionality
      • In any communications with another Boleum Marketplace member, refer to or promote external websites that facilitate sales outside of Boleum Marketplace
      • Use contact information obtained through Boleum Marketplace transaction to offer to buy or sell an item outside of Boleum Marketplace
      • List an item and then mention or link to additional identical or related items for sale outside of Boleum Marketplace
      • Offer catalogs or other items that are used to order items directly outside of Boleum Marketplace
      • Host item descriptions or images outside of Boleum Marketplace

      Buyers and sellers should:

    • Complete purchases on Boleum Marketplace in order to be covered by Boleum Marketplace protections and Boleum Marketplace Money Back Guarantee. Confirmation of a completed transaction on Boleum Marketplace can be obtained by:
      • Using the Boleum Marketplace checkout to complete the purchase
      • Viewing the purchase in purchase or sales history
